Joshua’s Favorite Indie Music Featured in 2014

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman December 28, 2014 10:38 am Tagged With: mid tenn listens

Be sure to check out our Ten Most Popular Bands Featured in 2014.

That list was based on traffic but this list will reflect my personal favorites. I went digging through our archives and decided the best way to approach this was to look at our articles on a month by month basis and choose 1 or 2 of my favorites from each month.

We have published 2,330 articles since launching this site and each year we have been introduced to more and more indie music which has resulted in more and more features. Considering we allow bands and agents to submit their own press releases, our library of indie music is only going to grow.

Below are my favorite MTM features of 2014…in no particular order.

  • The Man I Am by Charlie and the Foxtrots
  • (A)live from the Scrapheap by Christina Rubino
  • Godhead Realigns the Shadows
  • Aliens Do It Better
  • Never Grow Up by Joe & Box
  • Hip Hop Philosophy by Parallax
  • The FundaMentals Do It All For Rock and Roll
  • Music For The People, By The People by Carry Illinois
  • Just Keep Living by The Aquaducks
  • The Chameleon by Grace & Tony
  • Son of a Gun – Interview with Miggs
  • Amy Obenski and the Carbone Band
  • The Fascinating Thinking Machine by Kicklighter
  • clarified by Brian Barnhouse
  • Evangeline, American Music, and the Sounds of Blind Lemon Pledge
  • Somewhere In A Dark City with Vision The Kid & Tru
  • I Must Be Gone and Live or Stay and Die by The Glass Child
  • The Tapebenders – Chasing Ghosts of Elusive Parallelograms
  • Take Cover, Oak Apple Records Releases A Unique Cover Album
  • Space Legs by Uncle Outrage
  • Begin At Zero Are Breathing Ash
  • Brother Octopus and the Sea of Champions – an album for Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
  • For You by Azrock & Pogo
  • I Am Rawson – Pull Up Clean

Looking forward to more submission e-mails from great indie musicians in 2015. Keep them coming.
