The Weekenders Don’t Plan On But They Are The Icing On Rock Music’s Cake

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman October 29, 2012 10:09 am Tagged With: Rock

Dont Plan On by The Weekenders

There was a time when Rock and Roll was…well Rock and Roll.

Musicians with names such as Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, or Keith Richards were the gods of this Rock and Roll. The music was raw, powerful, and timeless.

That era slowly dissolved into what we now refer to as rock music, but The Weekenders are everything you love about that classic era. Consider them Led Zeppelin reincarnate with their own modern twist.

If you are into The Black Keys or The White Stripes, stop right now and go grab your copy of Don’t Plan On.

This album takes me back to the day I first listened to a Led Zep record. I am excited. I am rockin’. And my air guitar has never sounded better.

The Weekenders, I salute you.

These guys (Rob Reinfurt on guitar and lead vocals, Bob Melanson on bass, Mike Sasich on guitar and John Murphy bangin’ drums) have captured the spirit of 1960s – 1970s rock music and everything you love about it while still blending into today’s scene.

Very impressive indeed. Now go rock out!

Recent Accolades:

  • ReverbNation, home to over 2.4 million musicians and industry professionals, made The Weekenders their Featured Artist.
  • BandPage featured the band alongside The Black Keys and The Stone Foxes in their premier of BandPage Everywhere.
  • Feature article in The Salt Lake Tribune.
  • Relix Magazine is including the band in their October CD sampler.
