The Alpine Camp Translate Nature To Sound

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman August 5, 2015 9:37 am Tagged With: Acoustic, Bluegrass, Folk, Rock, Roots

The Alpine Camp

The Alpine Camp was simply a challenge to translate nature’s sounds into music without any fancy gadgetry or studio over-processing but has since turned into something of an obsession for this crew of energetic and creative musicians.

We wanted to transmit the vibe of rock music through the medium typically used in folk, bluegrass and country bands”, says singer/guitarist Chris Bell. Charles Etienne (Singer/keyboards) continues, “It was important to me that the songs stood on their own, and weren’t simply a result of processing or gadgetry in the studio”.

Nowhere near new to the music world, members of this band have performed with the likes of The Black Crowes, The Allman Bros. Band, Gov’t Mule, Guster, Roberta Flack, the Derek Trucks Band and more.

Their 2-track EP includes the foot-stompin’, adrenaline boosting “Regrets of a Cosmic Mountaineer” and the more mellow but still loud and proud balladry of “Seven Miles”. This is songwriting and songcrafting at it’s best.

The Alpine Camp includes the masterful talents of Chris Bell (Vocals/Guitar), Charles Etienne (Keyboards/Vocals), Jeff Stella (Bass/Vocals), Shad Wilhelm (Drums), Bob Hamilton (Banjo), and Jamison Hollister (Pedal Steel).

Quickly building a following of fans who love their “Roots Rock for the Outdoors” vibrations, this band is not slowing down any time soon. Be on the look out, catch a show, and show your support.
