Royal Ruckus Returns! Prepare To Rock With The World’s Okayest Rapper

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman June 18, 2018 9:36 am Tagged With: Hip Hop, rap

Royal Ruckus-Worlds Okayest Rapper

SoCal based Royal Ruckus is back with the World’s Okayest Rapper, the follow-up to their previous album Summer of the Cicadas (which we reviewed, find that here).

For this fun-filled, head-noddin’, ill flowin’, beats bangin’ album, emcee Chunjay teamed up with CookBook of LA Symphony to take us on a journey through the life of the World’s Okayest Rapper as we are guided through This White Life while sending Postcards Back Home to Ghosts of Women Past Chunjay discusses love, break-ups, staying positive and touring as a tongue-in-cheek rapper in the year 2018.

Although This White Life (the lead single and video) is quite the infectious jam and a great first single, World’s Okayest Rapper is best enjoyed from beginning to end; especially for those who truly appreciate SoCal underground-infused, golden era Hip Hop in its raw, purest form.

Also worth noting, World’s Okayest Rapper features Chunjay’s first male-female rap duo on Take The Leap. And…if production from CookBook wasn’t enough to satisfy our Hip Hop fix, Chunjay is joined by heavy hitters Eligh (of Living Legends), Pigeon John, MC RedCloud, Malcolm Smalls and Shizaru for the fun posse cut Multi-Purpose Room 2.

I have been listening to World’s Okayest Rapper on repeat for a couple weeks at this point. I’m sure you will find it just as enjoyable and contagious!

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
