Mythpunk Songstress S.J. Tucker Releases Stolen Season

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman June 22, 2015 11:40 am Tagged With: Folk, Jazz

Why have I NOT heard of S.J. Tucker before?!?! Or the genre of Mythpunk?!?! (Which is as awesome as Punkgrass.)

Someone has serious explaining to do…

This mix of folksy, delta blues, jazz fusion stands in a league all its own. With a charming and enchanting presence, soulful and angelic voice, and the ability to tell engaging stories through song; S.J. Tucker (known to fans as Sooj) is one of the brighter stars in this big indie music sky.

SJ Tucker

[Tweet ““Without our songs and stories, we are nothing.” @s00j”]

After 10 long years of touring the US, Canada and Europe, Tucker arrives with her next opus in a catalog of masterpieces… Stolen Season.

From the opening ‘Black Swan Blues’ to the closing ‘Believe In Lullabies (After Hours)’, Tucker sends listeners on an unforgettable journey through precise instrumentation, polished production, master song crafting and a soothing, soulful, passionate voice.

You have no choice but to tune in, turn up, and float away. If you’re like me, you’ll repeat the process.

As awesome, catchy, and upbeat ‘Little Bird’ is, Sooj had me at the opening ‘Black Swan Blues’…seriously, I repeated the song just because of the bad ass riff.

I love my delta blues.

With so much already accomplished in her career, what’s next for Tucker?

In the works for 2015 are an illustrated book based on her Wendy & Peter Pan songs (with an album to follow), a myths-and-literature-inspired song collection called ‘Stormchaser’, a video game soundtrack, and a long-awaited follow-up to her spiritually focused Blessings album, called Rootless.

Whoa!

Go grab your copy of Stolen Season then connect with Sooj on FB or Twitter.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
