Interview with Spacetrain

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman May 8, 2013 12:18 pm

SpacetrainLet everyone know who you are, where you are from and what style of music you play.

We are Spacetrain located in Nashville, TN and we are a rock trio

What do you do for fun? You know…besides music?

Ha well we are pretty active dudes, we love sports, hiking or anything outdoors, Joe Rogans podcast is rad too, bbqn, but most of the time is spent sitting in a circle discussing ridiculous topics and conspiracy theories ha.

What was the last song you listened to?

Alien Days-MGMT

What did you listen to when you were younger? What do you listen to now? Have your tastes changed?

Alex and Zig were strictly metal heads especially European metal. As we grew up we kept wanting more and kept expanding to all sorts of music to inspire us creatively.

Was there an “ah-ha” moment in your life when you knew music would be the path you were going to walk?

I wouldnt say there was an ah ha moment, but I will speak for all three of us and say that when we first started learning our instruments at a young age it was just a no brainer. I think any musician or artist can say the same. There is no sensation more gratifying than taking your thoughts and ideas and making it real. Everyone should do what makes them happy.

How did you hear about Music Tree Fest?

Through our great friend Amanda! Thank you guys for letting us be a part of Music Tree

How do you feel about being a part of Music Tree Festival?

We are just very thankful for the opportunity, we are a new band in Nashville so I think this is a great opportunity to let some new people who are on the hunt to find some new music.

Do you have plans for Bonnaroo?

I think we would give anything to be there! But unfortunately we are broke musicians ha.

Do you have an album available? Where can we get it? Where can people connect with you online?

Yes we released our first 5 song EP December 2012. You can purchase off iTunes. www.facebook.com/spacetrainband www.sonicbid.com/spacetrain2013

Any last thoughts? Shout outs?

Much love to our families and friends who keep us motivated everyday and support what we are doing, NEW people who we havent met yet, we would be glad to meet ya, and thank you Music Tree for letting us play 2 nights in a row! 7 o’clock on Sunday night, and 9 o’clock Monday night on the main stage. See all of you there 🙂
