Interview with Richard Lynch

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman May 6, 2016 9:54 am Tagged With: singer, songwriter

Richard Lynch-A Better Place

If you missed our previous feature for Richard Lynch‘s newest single “A Better Place“, be sure to check that out here.

Richard was kind enough to give us a few minutes of his time for this interview. Learn more and discover more tunes on Richard’s website.

Would you say there is a resurgence in the desire for traditional country music? Or is this becoming a smaller market as time passes?

I am experiencing a large positive response to my country music, I believe there has always been a big desire for traditional country music, the industry whether it is radio, cd sales, concerts are not providing the desired music.

When people hear our REAL country music, the response is huge….I had an American Idol Top 10 finisher’s parents tell me how much they enjoyed our country music because they just don’t find it anymore done the REAL country way

During your long career, what are one or two of your favorite memories or moments you can share with us?

I cherish the memory of opening for Shenandoah in 1989 at a large festival in southern OH on the day Two Dozen Roses went number one and after the show Marty Raybon was so gracious and included me in his autograph session. This made me realize how wonderful the artists of country music are.

I also enjoyed taking my Dad on the road with me and having him get up and perform with me and my band like he always did
when I was growing up

How has technology changed or transformed the music world from your earlier days until now?

The ability to find a song on the internet and play it instantly so I can learn how to play it correctly, used to be I had to wait for a song to play on the radio and be ready with my cassette record it, record it then play it back to learn it! LOL!

How we purchase music is a drastic change that doesn’t always seem good for artists but does make our music more readily available.

The availability of social media to reach listeners of our music is a completely different way to gain fans and followers.

Is there a secret to writing a great song? Some people seem to think so… Can you bust this as a myth?

The secret to writing a song for me is telling the truth and putting it to a melody and making it a song.

Where can readers connect with you online? Where can discover more of your music?

Our website is www.richardlynchband.com
facebook.com/richardlynchband
reverbnation.com/richardlynchband.

Our music is also available at cdbaby.com/richardlynch

Any last thoughts? Words of widsom? Shout outs?

I just want to be known for playing the REAL traditional country music and doing my part to letting people discover and hear the real country music
