Interview with Dixie Voodoo Revival

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman May 8, 2013 10:01 am

Dixie Voodoo Revival

Let everyone know who you are, where you are from and what style of music you play.

This is Scott Church, drummer for Dixie Voodoo Revival. DVR is a five piece heavy southern rock band from Manchester TN. that plays our own style of music that has been affectionately dubbed Swamp Metal by Voodoo Nation.

What do you do for fun? You know…besides music?

We all have families and try to spend as much time with them as possible between shows.

What was the last song you listened to?

Crucial Velocity by Clutch

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QAccVFfVmk

What did you listen to when you were younger?

A lot of Outlaw Country, Bob Seger, Rolling Stones, KISS, AC/DC, Foreigner, Bad Company – the classics

What do you listen to now?

Lots of different stuff. Anything from Blind Melon to Black Sabbath and Son House to Pantera

Have your tastes changed?

Definitely, as I’ve gotten older I find all kinds of different music has something that catches my ear.

Was there an “ah-ha” moment in your life when you knew music would be the path you were going to walk?

Two actually. The first time I heard Hot Blooded by Foreigner and the first time I saw a picture of KISS!

How did you hear about Music Tree Fest?

Our good friend Wes Carter, He asked us to submit last year and invited us back this year. Wes is the MAN!

How do you feel about being a part of Music Tree Festival?

Music Tree is a great opportunity for all bands, musicians, and music lovers to be exposed to a lot of different styles of music they may ordinarily have access to.

Do you have plans for Bonnaroo?

Yep! Looking forward to seeing Tom Petty, ZZ Top, and one of my favorites KYNG!

Do you have an album available?

We are currently putting the finishing touches on our first full length CD which will be available very soon!

Where can we get it?

Everywhere!

Where can people connect with you online?

You can find DVR on facebook, Twitter, Reverbnation, and www.dixievoodoorevival.com

Any last thoughts?

Looking forward to seeing you all at MUSIC TREE!!!

Shout outs?

A BIG HELL YEAH TO VOODOO NATION!!! Love ya’ll! See you soon!

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
