Interview with Amanda Cramer

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman May 8, 2013 7:31 am

MusicTree Festival will be going down June 7 – 11 in Manchester, Tennessee. We will be publishing info and features about the bands as we close in on this event. Feel free to check out our coverage from 2012.

Amanda CramerLet everyone know who you are, where you are from and what style of music you play.

I am Amanda Cramer. I am a singer/songwriter from Fayetteville, AR, now living in Nashville. I am still trying to figure out my style as an artist but have experimented with many different genres such as country, folk, pop, and alternative. I am learning every day that my dream would be to create a new genre.

What do you do for fun? You know…besides music?

For fun….. I do this… I sing, write, and sing some more. I do enjoy all different types of art. I have found a passion for graphic designing and interior design lately.

What was the last song you listened to?

That last song that I listened to was “Blue Ocean Floor” by Justin Timberlake. Actually, that is the last ten songs I have listened to. I think the song is beautiful and I could listen to it all day every day.

What did you listen to when you were younger? What do you listen to now? Have your tastes changed?

I listened to a lot of Celine Dion and LeAnn Rimes when I was younger. Those two artists turned into inspiration to pursue my own singing career. Now, I listen to everything. I love everything and anything, which is a reason why I have difficulties sticking to one genre as an artist. I just want to sing it all because every genre has a different emotion behind it, and that’s what I love about music. My taste in music changed around middle school age. I always listened to what my parents listened which was the classics, christian, or country, then I discovered top 40 and rap music in middle school.

Was there an “ah-ha” moment in your life when you knew music would be the path you were going to walk?

There was never an ah-ha moment for me… I just always knew. I now it sounds weird never having that moment, but as long as I knew that singing was “a thing” and people did it, I wanted to do it. I believe that everyone is called to do something in their lives, and I believe that music was my calling.

How did you hear about Music Tree Fest?

I heard about this Festival online. I am constantly searching for new opportunities to sing.

How do you feel about being a part of Music Tree Festival?

I feel honored that Music Tree Fest is taking a chance on me. I am not extremely well-known, but I know i can do the job, so being able to play at the fest is a great opp for me.

Do you have plans for Bonnaroo?

I have never been to Bonnaroo, but I have heard that is an awesome time. Perhaps, it is my time to join the fun.

Do you have an album available? Where can we get it? Where can people connect with you online?

I am in the process of making an EP with “Off the Wall” Studios in Nashville. I am really looking forward to the finished product. I think it will sound great. It will be available online when it is released. I try my best to be all over the board when it comes to advertisement, so follow me at my website, amandacramermusic.com , or twitter, @AmandaJoCramer, my Facebook page, and reverberation is a site where you can see and hear some of my rough recordings of some of my originals.
