Welcome to Fatback Circus

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman April 22, 2013 9:18 am Tagged With: Alternative, Austin, Pop, Rock, Texas, United States

Fatback Circus Fatback Circus has established themselves as an Austin, Texas favorite receiving comparisons to classics such as Led Zeppelin and Simon & Garfunkel.

That’s quite the hefty comparison, but wait, there’s more. The band has had the pleasure of sharing stages with The Flaming Lips , The Presidents of the USA, Thin Lizzy, and Fastball.

Hold on, even more…

The video for their song “Brain Damage” was featured at SXSW’s music video showcase and they performed on the Vans Warped Tour in 2009 after taking the title to the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands.

So what about the tunes, dude?

A very eclectic mix of classic and modern rock with tinges of folk and country carried by soothing yet sometimes haunting vocals.

The songwriting is more like “songcrafting” as all the elements come together to form a unique experience only a band with the name Fatback Circus could bring to the world.

Their self-titled third album is nothing short of a great album that can be enjoyed by a wide range of listeners.

To up the ante even more, the band participates in some great benefits for causes such as: The American Cancer Society, The Chenoa Manor Animal Sanctuary, The Texas Spirits Organization, as well as the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

I suggest grabbing a copy of this album. Want to listen on Grooveshark?

You can connect with the band on Twitter or Facebook. Better yet, visit their website.
