Escape or Release… Classic

Led by Mark Rechler ( formerly of Circus Mind and Outhouse), Falling Water’s debut record “The Slow Down” is a Release in a league all it’s own.

Rechler’s soulful, somewhat scratchy vocals ride on a bed of atmospheric pianos, keys, and beautiful, aching guitar tones to deliver his songs straight to the listener’s heart.

I have had “The Slow Down” on pretty much non-stop for a couple days, now and I still can’t decide which is my favorite track. Every time I hear the melotron in Early Frost, I think this has to be it, but then the funky bass and smart quips in Bastards get me groovin.

Crutch is full of longing and desire. It leaves me thinking of lovers and God, and old friends. When we get to the final cut – Release – I think it’s the one. It is the light in the dark hallway. And then the record starts over and I’m on my search again.

I love rock and roll guitar albums, but there is something special about a song well written on piano! Mark’s writing reminds one of  George and Paul working together, Emerson Lake & Palmer and Jeff Lynn, and so many other greats. This is a record I’ll play over and again, totally timeless, and full of great music and sounds!
