Local Spotlight – Candace Brown

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman April 6, 2013 9:19 am Tagged With: jazz, Pop, singer, songwriter

In an attempt to bring more attention to musicians in our area, we are starting this local spotlight series. If you would like to be considered, contact us.

Candace BrownWe first met Candace Brown at MTSU Can Jam 2012. Feel free to check out our interview from that event.

Originally from Walla Walla, Washington, Candace Brown is now in Murfreesboro at the one and only MTSU studying the recording industry, perfecting her songwriting skills, and infecting the Middle Tennessee area with her smooth sounds and soulful voice.

Her newest EP, Vivid, is a showcase of excellent songwriting and vibrant musicianship. Candace’s powerful, polished vocals are as soothing as a cool spring breeze winding through the foothills.

Ms. Brown plays her piano with authority while providing insight to the complexities of human emotion through her blend of classy jazzy pop. It becomes obvious from the moment you push play that Candace and her piano are extensions of one another.

In the spirit of powerful women singer/songwriters such as Sara Bareilles, Jewel, and Adele, Vivid is a beautiful arrangement of compositions that cannot be ignored.

At times I feel like I am cruising back roads pondering the intricacies of my life and at others I can imagine myself in a prestigious jazz club, dressed in my finest, sipping on expensive beverages.

Regardless of how Vivid makes you feel, you are going to feel it.

Connect with Candace on Facebook and then go grab a copy of Vivid to show your support.
