Brian Larney Releases New Album – Jupiter With You

by Featured Guest July 28, 2014 8:50 am

Check out our review of Brian’s previous album.

Jupiter With You by Brian Larney(New York, NY) – July 18, 2014 – The MuseBox today announced the July 22nd release of Jupiter With You, the second full-length from Bridgeport, Connecticut’s Brian Larney. According to Andrew Greenhalg of Along The Journey, Larney “merges genres and writes honest, poetic, insightful lyrics that speak to the heart.” With songs such as “This Sinking Ship,” “I’m Out of Hope, You’re Out of Reach,” and “I Just Don’t Feel Like I Used To,”Jupiter With You is a forthright and melancholic record consisting of eleven brand new tracks produced by Grammy-nominated David Mayfield (for production of bluegrass artists Barry Scott & Second Wind) at Nashville’s Toy Box Studio. The album was tracked during the winter of 2013/2014 at Nashville’s Toy Box Studio and features what Larney calls “amazing performances by some of my favorite musicians: David Mayfield, Christian Lee Hutson, and Sarah Clanton Schaffer.” Larney, who has also teamed with John Radzin to form the powerhouse songwriting duo behind the band Lines West, released his debut At the Starting Line in 2013. Both Jupiter With You and At the Starting Line are available on iTunes, Amazon and Larney’s website www.brianlarney.com . The debut single from Jupiter With You will be “Too Many Days in the Week.”

His debut solo album, At the Starting Line, was recorded at famed studio SUMA Reco?rding in Ohio and was produced by Mayfield in the winter of 2013. At the Starting Line earned Larney rave reviews from fans and critics alike: “Larney’s charisma and voice are distinctive enough to pull off anything he wants to do.” (Wildy Haskell, Wildy’s World)

Says Larney: “I wanted to continue the dance somewhere between Indie-pop and Americana but also take this album one step further.  The songs themselves feel like finely honed extensions of the songs on the first album, only they’re way more relaxed, more at ease, and a lot more “live” sounding.  Lyrically, this record is a bit of a departure too.  Some of the headier topics on the first have given way to more emotional themes.”

Larney is also heavily involved in co-fronting Lines West, a four-piece group led by Larney on keyboard, guitar, and vocals and John Radzin on vocals and guitar. Compared to Wilco and Big Star, Lines West feature a wide range of American rock traditions. The band’s first full-length, Stop Look and Listen, is a unique blast of rootsy pop/rock. Lines West released their Blistering Heart EP in 2013. According to Larney, the album is “a collection of eleven clear-eyed observances of life and love – wrapped in crystalline acoustic-based melodies and harmonies, all delivered with a touch of twang.” Stop Look and Listen was co-produced by Larney and Radzin, and is available @ iTunes, Amazon and www.lineswest.com .
