I am feeling like the coolest cat in school as I vibe along to Eileen Howard’s Blues In The Green Room.
With her smooth, sultry voice and those finger snappin’ bluesy jazz grooves, I can’t help but fall in love with this one.
Ms. Howard’s performance sucks you into the album and even though I am in a small home office in Sacramento, I feel as if I am in The Green Room with Eileen and the band.
She is a noted vocalist and very active on the jazz scene receiving awards and accolades as not only a singer and songwriter but also as an actress.
Blues In The Green Room is all Eileen and her charisma, passion, and ability to connect with her listeners sets her apart from the pack.
This album is a live album of blues standards and revelatory obscurities. Ms. Howard handles the stage with grace but knows how to get the crowd rolling with her witty, insightful vignettes.
As an actress she has received awards such as Excellence in Musical Performance and Excellence in Acting – Supporting Actress from the Central Ohio Theatre Roundtable and Best Supporting Actress from Columbus Alive magazine.
As a songwriter and performer, she has taken the stage at countless jazz and blues festivals as well as producing an album full of original contemporary Christian music.
“Blues ties together my acting, my spiritual side, and, of course, my music,” she says. “It brings together all these pieces as a performer because the songs have a narrative and I can really connect with that.”
Blues In The Green Room was produced by Ms. Howard and recorded live at The Green Room in historic Garden Theater in Columbus, Ohio.
Joining her to create this great live album was Ed Moed on keys, Chris Ciampa on bass, David Bennett on guitar, Richard Mather on saxophone, and The Governor (Gregg Pierson) banging on the drums.
Blues In The Green Room will reach out and grab you. Get ready to feel like the coolest cat in the club.
