Billy Roberts and The Rough Riders

Billy Roberts and the Rough Riders Billy Roberts recently sent over a few tracks from his upcoming album for us to check out.

At first glance, I thought we might be taking a sonic trip through the Texas deserts but Mr. Roberts is from the Land Down Under – more specifically, Moree, Australia.

Interestingly enough, Billy’s genre choices have left him feeling alienated in his homeland. Despite all the Aussie’s that have found success in the US Country music market, mainstream country is not as popular in Australia as we might think.

On top having difficulty finding other bands to rock with in his genre, Billy decided it was time to seek out a studio in Nashville.

He is currently working with Billy Anderson of Cumberland Studios on his yet-to-be-titled debut album.

When asked about his love for music, Billy states:

“(I love the way) it can pick you up. The way it makes you feel. (It) can go straight to your heart, can fire you up, (and it) . Never gets old, (it’s) relaxing. And the history and how it expands to people and towns.”

Billy Roberts and the Rough Riders provide a much needed “pick me up” for fans of those lonesome, desert-wandering, hard-rockin’ country blues.

Taking elements from his favorite genres, Mr. Roberts creates sonically pleasing soundscapes which allow him to craft tales, evoke emotions, and share his personal experiences through music.

Cowboy country fused with bluesy, hard rockin’, folk aesthetics create a refreshing and authentic sound guaranteed to make you grab your air guitar and jam along.

Billy provides the perfect soundtrack for putting the top down and riding into the sunset… if you’re someone that doesn’t have a car, a horse might be more appropriate.

I am looking forward to the finished album…especially after it receives that “Nashville” touch 😉
