2nd Annual Online Fest to Rock the Globe via Google Plus

by C Bret Campbell August 20, 2013 11:00 pm

We talked with John Voshell in the past about the Artists In The Plus music support page on Google Plus, most recently when their fund-raising album came out. We also covered the first AITP Online Music Festival, last year. It’s truly been an amazing year for John and the small group that handle AITP, and everyone is really excited about this years fest, to be held the last weekend of September 2013 and streamed live via Google Plus Hangouts On Air.

Of course MidTenn are happy to support the 3 day musical extravaganza and just this morning, we sent out text interviews to all the artists involved; and those are already starting to come in to us. So it was a really nice surprise when John asked if we would handle a little press for the big event. Following, is the first in a series of press releases for the AITP Online Music Festival.

Worldwide Music Festival to Stream on YouTube

For Immediate Release:

September 27-29, 2013

Los Angeles, CA, U.S.A.

The second Artists in the Plus Online Music Festival is coming to a screen near you! Kicking off live performances on the 27th of September and running through Sunday the 29th, musicians from around the globe will be performing in the only festival of it’s kind. One hundred independent musicians and bands have been accepted to perform at this year’s big event. They will be gathered in Los Angeles, North Carolina, and Bergen Norway to showcase their hearts and souls to the world via Google’s “Hangouts On Air.”

This year’s fest will be sponsored by The Village Studios in LA (temporary home for everyone from Fleetwood Mac to The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, and John Mayer. Luna Guitars are also behind the project, as well as Loudr.FM, Europcar, Baja Artists, Bibliotket Bar in Norway and others.

Performances will run twelve hours a day for the three days, and artists will be “hanging out” to talk with fans in other related hangouts as well.

Last year, a very small and dedicated team of volunteers organized the first “AITP” Festival, which truly changed the landscape for musicians everywhere. Early adopters of the Google Plus platform flocked to Hangouts for performances and personal conversations with fans and music-lovers. With the roll-out of Hangouts On Air and the high definition audio they provide, interview and performance shows quickly became a staple of the Google Plus diet.

Artists In The Plus (started by +John Voshell) began the crusade to introduce the best of the best independent musicians on Plus to the public around the same time as the initial Hangout introduction. “I just saw a way that I could enjoy something I love, and maybe help a few people out along the way,” said Voshell when asked what inspired him. Originally connecting with and sharing the moving music of the artists on G+, John quickly attracted a huge following and constantly sought more ways to help. Hangouts turned out to be “the ticket.”

With the introduction of the video platform which now streams and records live to YouTube, “the festival just seemed the be the natural thing to do.” With the help of a small team, Voshell organized scores of musicians for performances and interviews. The festival ran through the weekend, 24 hours a day. By the end of it, it was obvious that music on the net would never be the same again!

Musicians have used services like U-Stream and LiveStream for a few years, but this has mostly been done by bands with a budget for the available high-def bandwidth. Since last September, artists have been relying more on Hangouts than any other video platform. They are free and allow performers to have up to nine other people or groups in the “room” with them, providing a way to personally connect with fans and friends.

You can watch live on the AITP YouTube Channel and join in the hangouts from Google Plus.

This year’s performers include:

+Anacron, Ashley Jones, Blackford Hill, +Brent Michelle, Chase Walker Band, Danni Rosner, +David Santy, IAMEVE, Jason Diego, Joel Ryans, +JQ, Julia Price, JW SAWGRASS, Level Se7en, Marcela Carmona, Max Lugavere, Mina Koo, C-Rock, Ashley Jones and many, many more!

The complete list is due to be released any time.
