Interview with New Kingston – Kingston City Now Available

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman February 12, 2015 8:31 am Tagged With: Reggae

New Kingston released their new album Kingston City on January 27th. We caught up with the band to briefly discuss what’s happened since their last release and what to expect on their latest project.

New Kingston

What has New Kingston been up to since releasing your last album? Any memorable experiences worth noting?

We’ve been hitting the road doing shows and interviews. We got the chance to headline our first Brooklyn show in celebration of achieving the Number 1 spot on Billboard’s Reggae Chart!

How is Kingston City different from your last release? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific creatively speaking?

Everyone of our albums have been different so far. We are constantly learning and progressing. We pull from so many avenues and turn what we learn into our own original material. Kingston City is the latest example of what we’ve been through and war we’ve learned.

What influenced the songs and music on Kingston City? Is the entire band involved in the writing process?

We never start off with any exact direction. We just make music off of how we are feeling. When its all said and done we look at what we have and make a story out of what we recorded. The entire band is involved in every track on the album. Nothing can go through unless we all clear it.

What was the last song you listened to?

Third World – Jah Glory

Any gigs or tours happening? Where can fans see you live?

We are gearing up for a run to support our album “Kingston City” with The Kingston City Tour.

Where can we connect with you and stream your music online?

Best way to link us is on any social media outlet. Instagram, Facebook etc.. We have a great account on Soundcloud with plenty of songs to stream. Just search New Kingston.

Any last thoughts? Shout outs?

Shout out to all of our fans! We are nothing without you!
