You have been working extra hard researching and learning ways to move up the charts on ReverbNation, but is it even worth the effort?
In my opinion, no one cares.
Unless you are only on ReverbNation and…
- using their opportunities
- their personalized mobile app
- their EPK
- their e-commerce features
- or any feature you are paying for…
…it is not worth it.
I do not use their premium features but my group, BUNKS, has bounced between #1 and #2 locally (Manchester, TN area) for years [as well as consistently moving up and down the national and global charts] and it has brought us nothing but spam.
Our FanReach mailing list is nothing but other artists and no one responds to any e-mails. We receive a ton of messages and fan adds but they are all artists “working the system”.
I checked out your tunes. You’re great. Please like me on FB and become my fan….and follow on Twitter…..and scratch my back. –BooBoo’s Band
Uhm…no. And why?
Now that the “new” Myspace is in beta, I have no clue where that leaves the current integration between their platform and ReverbNation’s.
I never found any benefit to the merger…just more spam in my Myspace inbox from other ReverbNation artists. This was when RN started declining from its early days’ glory.
Now (it seems) they are trying to keep revenue flowing. Even though their Promote It advertising looks appealing; I think investing in Facebook Ads, Twitter Ads, or Google Adwords as well as other options results in money better spent.
This is no way a bash on ReverbNation, but simply my experiences with their free services. Not only with BUNKS, but with all the other artists I have helped promote and market on RN’s platform.
I have worked with artists in pop, folk, hip hop, and country Christian and it is the same across the board.
You can put in the effort to move up the charts and stay up the charts, but does it result in sales, valuable connections, or taking your career to the next level?
No.
There are better ways to invest your marketing budget and promotion efforts.
But then again, this is just me.
