Eric has returned with his newest project, recorded in one night in a Toronto studio from midnight until 7 AM, titled Late In The Night.
The true beauty of this album lies in it’s organic nature. Each song was recorded live in one or two takes and the only additions added post-production were background vocals.
With Eric’s leanings toward infectious, retro, warm and fuzzy sounding pop rock with an injection of the ’60s, Late In The Night is a little bit Beach Boys, a little bit Beatles, and 100% Eric Frisch charm. This is an album a wide range of listeners can and will enjoy.
Songs about love, loss and self-reflection will resonate deeply with those struggling with love, pondering love’s complexities or trying to come to terms with any aspect of maintaining love for the long term.
As Long As I’m Alive is my favorite track at the moment but there is a certain magic to Turn On Your Light which was not intended for tracking during the Late In The Night sessions. I’ll let Eric explain,
We were gonna be done for the night after we had “As Long As I’m Alive,” “Late in the Night” and “Loved You All Along” because it was pretty late, we were all kind of tired, and my band didn’t know any more songs of mine. But I quickly taught them “Turn On Your Light” at 4 in the morning. The engineer rolled the tape, and it took a take for us to really get into a groove on it. But once we did, what we got was amazing. The way the bass and drums sound on that song is perfect.”
