Four-piece indie rockers The Calm Fiasco return with their infectious, upbeat sound as they get set to release their EP The Fear, out on 24th March 2017 via Chewy Records.

In this interview spotlight, we chat with The Calm Fiasco about the new project, influences, the digital music world and more.

Full Q&A along with links and streams available below.

Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?

I’m Harry and I play Bass in Glasgow band The Calm Fiasco. We’re releasing our new EP ‘The Fear’ on March 24th. The Fear is probably our biggest sounding record to date and probably our most adventurous. YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD IT!! Around this time last year Del (Lead singer) wrote the riff for ‘Lose Control’ and I think it was the first time we all really thought we’re onto something here, so I think that inspired us to write bigger sounding music from there really.

How long have you been creating and sharing your music with the public?

Since we really started the band we’ve always been wanting to get our music out there straightaway but with this EP we have held back a bit and waited a bit to make sure we were all happy with the finished article.

Who or what influences your playing and/or writing? Also, what motivates you to keep going?

I think everyday things inspire us when it comes to writing our music, Del I feel is a great songwriter (I’m not biased at all) and you can relate with what he’s singing about and to me I feel that’s important. Musically we are always putting tunes on our private chat that we have listened to and recommending them to each other, for instance the other day Greg put up a Cribs song and I’m now back hooked to The Cribs.

Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?

We never set out to say we want to sound like this or sound like that. I think we are influenced by a lot of music we are listening to at that time and that maybe comes out in the music.

What was the last song you listened to?

An Ivory Hand by The Cribs, Haha!!

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

I do love listening to my favourite albums on vinyl, however it is amazing how I have every album imaginable at the touch of a few buttons.

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

Personally I prefer Spotify as it was from what I can remember the first one I used. I love how easy it is to work.

Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what are one or two of the biggest challenges you face when trying to attract listeners to your music?

There is so much different music out there and also the fact that there’s not a lot of guitar music in the charts, although in saying that the emergence of British guitar bands like Blossoms is promising.

Do you gig, tour or perform? Do you ever live stream? Where can music lovers see you live?

Yeah we are out on a UK tour in March to promote our EP. All details can be found on our Facebook page.

Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more of your music?

The best place to keep up to date with us is on our Facebook page or if you want to hear the music the place to go is on Spotify and search The Calm Fiasco.

Any last thoughts? Shout outs? Words of wisdom?

Massive thanks for having us, enjoyed the questions! THE FEAR IS COMING. YYTT
